巴比伦的河
。巴比伦被称为“众水”之地(耶51:13)。幼发拉底河是主流。它有许多支流。囚虏们经常到这些河岸边去。
就哭了
。回想圣城,特别是现在已成废墟的圣殿,他们伤心欲绝,忍不住自己的泪水。在他们看来,没有什么地方比得上迦南。这是一块美地(申8:7-9),在他们心中留下许多珍贵的记忆。

本会注释 以东人对以色列人多次不顾手足之情。他们尽管与雅各的后裔有亲属关系,却帮助巴比伦人攻击以色列人(俄10-14章)。先知一再谴责以东人亏待自己的兄弟民族(耶49:7;哀4:21;结25:12-14;珥3:19;摩1:11)。

本会注释 在古代的战争中,经常发生杀害无辜儿童的事。这是最残暴最可恶的行为(王下8:12;赛13:16;何10:14)。鉴于巴比伦人的这种暴行(见耶51:24),诗人只是指出了生命的定律:“你怎样行,祂也必照样向你行”(俄15节;比较太7:2)。
